👗 Homeschool Fashion Design – Beginner Introduction Program 👗
This very beginner-friendly introduction to the world of fashion design is a fun, interactive homeschool program designed for students who are curious about fashion and may wish to explore it further.
Over this 4-week mini introduction course, students will learn the foundational design concepts used in fashion, while developing creativity, confidence and personal style.

🌿 Program Outline
Week 1 – Tuesday 17th March
Design Concepts & Vision Boards
• Understanding design concepts
• Creating vision boards
• Exploring brand identity, layouts and “brand feel”
• Building a collage of styles and colour palettes
• Introduction to branding, logos and design vision
Week 2 – Tuesday 24th March
From Concept to Design
• Translating ideas into designs
• Beginner fashion sketching skills
• Fabric exploration and selection discussions
Week 3 – Monday 30th March
Sustainability in Fashion
• Understanding sustainability movements in fashion
• Reduce, reuse and upcycle processes
• Working with a pre-loved garment (students will need to bring one item)
Week 4 – Tuesday 31st March
Bringing a Design to Life
• Messages in fashion
• Developing one chosen design concept
• Guided creative support to refine ideas
Children will choose one small design or sustainable work to bring to life- wearable art
👗 Age & Skill Suitability
This program is age-appropriate for upper primary to secondary homeschool students who can follow instructions and work safely in a creative studio environment.
Students will be:
• Using hand-sewing needles and thread
• Operating sewing machines with close supervision
• Learning fashion sketching and concept-to-design processes
All equipment use is fully guided and supervised by an experienced facilitator with a fashion design background, with safety and confidence-building at the forefront. No prior sewing or fashion experience is required — this course is designed as a beginner introduction.
