4 WEEK metalsmith and silver smith PROGRAM- choose all workshops as a bundle or purchase the the individual workshop you would like to participate in
Workshops run for 4 hours each & will focus on a different skill / technique and project for each workshop
SESSION 1- WED 28TH AUG- 10am- 2pm Introduction to metal smithing with the use of sawing using Aluminium, brass and copper fabrics- Make 1-2 pieces - choose your own designs from key rings, earrings, badges, necklace, design your own.
SESSION 2- MONDAY 23RD SEPT-10am- 2pm Metal smithing with basic soldering skills -Choose from a pair of earrings/ a necklace, making the design from scratch, advancing on skills to using the solder flame and silversmith techniques, learning about the process and equipment as you go.
SESSION 3- WEDNESDAY 30TH OCT- 10am- 2pm Ring Design using metal smithing recycled fabrics such as copper, aluminium and brass- focus lesson on stretching, pattern making, sanding and polishing metal techniques- Make 2-3 rings by the end of the class * please note there is an additional $50 for adults creating in this workshop
SESSION 4- WEDNESDAY 20TH NOV- 10am - 2pm Ring design using pure silver- using learned techniques prior lesson to advance on to solder, pattern , design and create your stunning sterling silver rings - 3 RINGS using sterling silver rings brass copper

Children’s Intro to Metal Smithing/ silversmithing is an Open Making Workshop for children to learn this incredible skill to open up a world of possibility for future career options or simply have a bit of fun learning a new skill. Parents are most welcome to join in themselves with a paying ticket or stay to help their children free of charge- UNDER 10'S will need a parent to stay unless already approved prior - if unsure please contact us here
Under the guide of professional Silversmith Jemica Ostrofski, learn how to design and fabricate texture, create, jewellery using recycled metals and pure silver.
The basic- more advanced metal smithing / silver smith techniques of mark making , solder and many other skills will be explored using various
hammers, letter stamps, flame torch, number stamps and other silversmithing tools.
The workshops will run for 4 hours each and students can make 2-3 pieces. Depending on the type of jewellery chosen, they have the option of making a necklace, earrings, key ring, adjustable ring, and lot more.The option to purchase additional metals or kits is also available

CONDITIONS
This workshop is designed for children aged 8 years to 17 years, children under 10 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult

There is a minimum of 6 and maximum or 12 participants for this workshop to go ahead- if the workshop does not go ahead you will be refunded or a rescedule may be offered.

A wonderful eye opening experience for children to explore a worlds of creative futures and what a career in metal smithing/ silversmithing may look like.
We will offer a NEW and exciting future program once the metal smithing has taken place- we endeavour to show kids/ adults alike the wonderful opportunities that exist in this wonderful skill.
There will be tea/ coffee/ water/ juice and refreshments on offer, you are most welcome to bring your own lunch or order from the cafe upstairs for delivery to the studio.
